These are examples for a normal bill. Your real number comes after we see your roof and switchboard. The way it splits across the year is a guide, not a promise.

You always pay a small daily fee just for being connected, about $400 a year, so the bill will not hit zero every month. We count your spare power at the real 3c per kWh you get paid, not the 30c some quotes wrongly use.

This does not include the midday charge for sending power out, or the limit on your street, so your real quarter may be a bit higher. The calculator uses your postcode to get that right.

Common questions

How much does solar and a battery cost together?

From about $13,290 fitted — 13.3 kW of panels plus a 28 kWh battery, with the rebate already off. Bigger homes pay more. Your exact price depends on your roof and your switchboard. All prices include GST.

Do I have to pay it all up front?

Not always. NSW has a loan of up to $15,000 with no interest to pay, for households under the income cap. Straight answer though: for solar and battery work that loan needs a NETCC Approved Seller, and we are not one yet, so it is not something we can arrange for you today.

Why use my own power instead of selling it?

The grid pays you very little for the sun you send out, then charges you a lot to buy power back at night. So every bit you use yourself — hot water, the pool, the car — is worth far more than selling it.

Can I run my pool pump and hot water off solar?

Yes, and you should. Put them on a timer to run in the middle of the day, on your own sun. Hot water on a midday timer is one of the biggest savings there is.

How much solar and battery do I need for aircon, a pool and a car?

Those all use a lot of power, so a small battery can be empty by morning. Homes like that usually need a bigger battery and plenty of panels. We check what you really use and size it properly.

Is it worth getting off gas?

For most homes, yes. Going all-electric saves money and gets rid of the daily gas fee. It is best value when you are already replacing a gas heater, cooktop or hot water tank.

Do I get the rebate if I do both together?

Other ads shout "free solar" and "rebate ending soon". We won't. It is not free, and it only gets smaller slowly, so there is no need to rush. We show you the real number for your home and let you decide in your own time.
