What does it cost to fit one?

It depends on two things: how far the charger is from your switchboard, and whether your switchboard can take it. Those two swing the price more than the charger itself does.

Most homes are a straightforward job: a 7 kW charger on the normal single-phase supply nearly every house has. Tell us how far the charger sits from your board, and roughly how old that board is, and you get a real range on the call. Free, no obligation.

Can I charge my car from my solar?

Yes. Set up the right way, your charger uses your daytime sun first. We explain how it would work at your place.

Is charging really cheaper than petrol?

Usually yes, and much cheaper on solar. But it depends on how far you drive, the plan you are on, and the price of petrol. The tool above gives you a rough range. We check your real numbers.

Do I need a 7kW or a 22kW charger?

For nearly every home, 7kW. A 22kW charger needs three-phase power, which most homes don't have. And most cars can't charge faster than 7kW at home anyway.

Will a charger trip my power?

Usually not. We can fit a small sensor that slows the charger down when the oven or the aircon is on, then speeds it back up. That often saves you paying for a new switchboard.

Is there a rebate for a home charger?

There is no cash rebate right now. There is a NSW Home Energy Saver loan at 0% interest that covers car chargers. One catch: for solar, battery and charger work it has to go through a NETCC Approved Seller, and we are not one yet, so we cannot set it up for you.

Can you do it at the same time as my solar?

Often yes. Doing both in one visit is tidier and can work out cheaper. Just ask. Get a price.
