Battery rebate for apartments & strata
From 1 September 2026, NSW opens its battery rebate to apartment buildings and strata for the first time. A building with 4 or more homes and no battery yet can put in one shared battery and get a rebate on top of the federal one. Here's the plain-English version.
What's on offer
- One shared battery for the building — sized between 20–200 kWh, roughly capped at 5 kWh per home.
- It stacks with the federal rebate — you can claim the NSW help on top of the federal Cheaper Home Batteries discount, up to 100 kWh.
- For buildings with 4+ homesthat don't already have a battery.
- Applied through the owners corporation / strata committee (not an individual resident)— it's a building decision, not something one resident does on their own.
Opens 1 September 2026. It's brand new, so the exact rules are still bedding in — we confirm the current details with you before anything is committed.
